The first month of Russia’s invasion involved several key events that have gone on to define the war. The most well-known event that took place in the first month was the Kyiv offensive—when Russian ground forces sought to capture the Ukrainian capital in a quick and decisive victory. Regarding the Battle of Kyiv, one of the most defining characteristics of the battle was the Russian army’s column of tanks and other armored vehicles that stretched for miles. The tank column started in Belarus and headed directly toward Kyiv, and it was a sight unlike anything Ukrainians like Anton had ever seen before.
